Detectives seize $860,000 worth of marijuana during Fort Bend Co. drug bust

HOUSTON

Hoi Van Tran, 53, and Ngoc Hong Mccubbins, 57, of Port Arthur, Texas, were arrested on charges of possession of marijuana (greater than 50 pounds, less than 2,000 pounds).

The Fort Bend County Narcotics Task Force had been investigating the duo for months, and last week, they finally executed a search warrant at their rented home in the 25000 block Canyon Crossing Drive, which is located in the Westheimer Lakes subdivision. When authorities entered the home, they say they found a sophisticated pot-growing operation inside five rooms.

Authorities say in all, they confiscated 481 marijuana plants with a street value of about $864,000, along with indoor growing lights, scales, water pumps, fans, electrical ballasts and assorted equipment used for manufacturing, packaging and selling of marijuana.

Tran and Mccubbins remain in the Fort Bend County Jail, where each is being held on a $15,000 bond.
