A 20-year-old man has been charged with robbing an elderly woman of more than $1,000 as she waited in her car outside a store last week.

Police say a 79-year-old woman was sitting in her car at a gas station at 7100 Scott, counting money she recently withdrew from the bank. Investigators say that's when the suspect came up to her open car window and snatched the money right out of her hand.

Police used surveillance video to identify the suspect as a neighborhood man who goes by the nickname "Sleepy." Police arrested "Sleepy" two blocks away from the store and identified him as Troy LeBlanc.

LeBlanc, 20, is charged with theft from an elderly person and is being held on a $70,000 bond.
