One person is dead after a Katy house fire, and right now, investigators are working to sort everything out.

The fire broke out at a home on Park Tree Lane at around 11am.

A Harris County fire marshal investigator confirms one person died in the blaze. The victim's age and gender have not yet been released.

Neighbors say a single mother and her two sons live there.

SkyEye HD video shows a hole in the roof of the home and broken windows but no obvious signs of fire.

"It's kind of in the middle front portion of the house. It's a split-level type of home, so the living space is in the front of the home versus the rear. A lot of heavy smoke damage throughout the entire residence," said Tim Thomas with the West I-10 Fire Department.

A K-9 dog is at the scene, trying to detect any sign of accelerants but we don't yet know if anything was found.

Authorities have not yet said what may have caused the fire.

The Harris County Medical Examiner's Office was called to the scene.
