It happened around 3:15am on Highway 225 at the Miller cutoff.
According to investigators, an officer had responded to a minor accident at the scene. He was standing outside behind a van, talking to the people involved in the accident when a small car slammed into his cruiser, knocking it into the van.
The officer ran from his patrol car to avoid getting hit.
The woman who crashed into his vehicle was taken to an area hospital by Life Flight.
No one else was injured.
