A pet owner is facing a felony charge in a dog attack that sent a two-year-old boy to the hospital.

Police say two-year-old Jacoby Jackson was playing outside his southwest Houston apartment complex last week when the dog attacked. The Rottweiler-pitbull mix left severe cuts on the boy's face and several bites on his back.

The dog owner, Anthony Ruff, 22, is accused of letting the dog loose from his apartment without a leash. Witnesses say he wasn't even outside when the attack happened.

The child is expected to recover and the dog remains at the animal control center.
