Low lake levels lead to restaurant's closure

AUSTIN, TX

Gary Manley, co-owner of Carlos 'n Charlie's, tells the Austin American-Statesman the low lake levels have made it impossible for boaters to reach the restaurant by water.

Manley says, "There's no way to do it anymore. We haven't had boat parking in three years. Every year we kept trying to hang on, hoping it'd come back."

He says the restaurant's final day in business will be Labor Day. That afternoon, Carlos 'n Charlie's, which opened in 1994, will auction off many of its decorations.

Employees will have the opportunity to transfer to other restaurants owned by the business partners who operate Carlos `n Charlie's.
