Texas regents meet as Hall fights state lawmakers

AUSTIN, TX

The regents meet Wednesday and Thursday and regent Wallace Hall is facing an ongoing impeachment investigation by House lawmakers. Some lawmakers have criticized Hall as engaging in a "witch hunt" to force out popular Austin campus president Bill Powers and micromanage the university.

The two-day agenda includes an update on developing a policy on relationships between students and university employees. That effort was started in February after revelations that a Texas football assistant coach had a relationship with a student on a bowl trip in 2008.

The August meeting is when regents assess the performance of campus presidents. Powers is not expected to attend.
