Suspect charged in west Houston motel robbery, shooting

HOUSTON

Shannon Earl Parker is facing a felony charge of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in connection to the September 28 attack. According to court documents, the victim was inside a room at a motel in the 13500 block of Westheimer with a woman when they heard knocking on the door. The woman opened the door, and Parker and another man walked inside.

The two men then allegedly began beating the victim and robbed him. Then as the victim lay on the floor, one of the suspects shot him in the back of his head at point-blank range. The suspects fled the scene, and the victim's 2003 Saturn was found burned at a nearby apartment complex.

The bullet ricocheted off the victim's head and he survived.

According to court records, detectives used the victim's phone records to identify Parker as a suspect. The victim then postively identified him during a photo lineup.

Parker was arrested Friday and is being held without bond at the Harris County Jail.
