Houston mayoral candidates take questions from voters at forum

HOUSTON

Incumbent Annise Parker and four challengers answered questions about drainage fees, crime and complaints of police brutality.

Parker and former City Attorney Ben Hall have already been airing attack ads directed at each other.

Hall says he wants to face off against Parker in several televised debates. Parker has agreed to one.

It was a very informative forum in order for the public to be able to ask questions of us," Hall said. "I anticipate we'll have several of these, but I'm looking forward to the debates."

I don't see the difference between what I've done here tonight and what I've done in any number of campaigns. Whatever it's called, it's democracy in action, and I'm just proud to be a part of it," Parker said.

The event was hosted by the Baptist Ministers Association of Houston.
