HCSO deputy en route to chase injured in hit-and-run on Highway 249

TOMBALL, TX

The accident happened around 2:30am on Tomball Parkway near Northpointe.

This all started just after 2am with deputies chasing a driver who refused to pull over. The driver headed north on Highway 249 almost to Tomball, exiting several times along the way.

At one point during the chase, a lieutenant in an unmarked car tried to assist the other officers and pulled onto the highway near the intersection of Northpointe Boulevard.

According to investigators, she barely made it onto the highway when a truck slammed into the back of her vehicle and then kept going.

The chase ended shortly after the crash. Investigators said the suspect threw something out of the vehicle, then pulled into a parking lot and stopped near FM 1960.

Deputies ended up shocking the male suspect with a Taser and handcuffing him. He faces criminal charges, including evading arrest. A female who was in the car was also taken into custody.

The injured lieutenant was transported to a nearby hospital. At last check, she was stable. The driver of the truck that hit her never stopped and remains at large, officials said.
