Harris County seeks to put plan to rehabilitate Astrodome plan on November ballot

HOUSTON

Joe Stinebecker with Judge Emmits office confirms that county commissioners will vote on the proposal at a meeting Tuesday. The proposal seeks $220 million to convert the Astrodome into the Astrodome Experience, an events center.

If commissioners approve the agenda item, the future of the Astrodome will be in the hands of voters who head to the polls in November.

In June, the official recommendation for the Astrodome was presented to the Harris County Commissioners Court, where they voted to send it to county agencies for review. Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation wanted the Eighth Wonder of the World to be renovated and turned into an events center.
