Eastbound lanes of I-10 near Hwy 59 shut down due to wreck

HOUSTON

Crews have just reopened the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 at Highway 59.

Authorities say around 3pm, an 18-wheeler carrying metal machine frames hit a bridge and lost its load. A couple cars driving behind the rig then crashed into the objects that spilled onto the road.

We're told two people were rushed to the hospital for unknown injuries.

Crews initially shut down the entire eastbound side of the highway then reopened one lane before clearing the scene of the accident. However, traffic in the area is still backed up.
