Man in custody after leading Pasadena police on chase

A man was taken into custody after leading Pasadena police on a car chase Thursday afternoon.

Pasadena police have arrested a man following a chase that ended on Highway 225 this afternoon.

The suspect was taken into custody around 3:30pm on the inbound lanes of Highway 225 near the Goodyear plant. The black truck he was driving was pulled over on the shoulder of the highway.

SkyEye HD was over the scene as the suspect, who's been identified as 28-year-old Israel Montoya Alcaraz, was lying on the ground in the middle of the highway and a canine officer was used to sniff out the scene.

Authorities say Alcaraz had been under investigation in connection child sex crimes and knew he was staying a motel in the 1200 block of Pasadena. Detectives were about to arrest him when he saw a marked Pasadena Police Department patrol car and fled, sparking the chase.

Officers pursued Alcaraz through Pasadena and southeast Houston until he pulled on Highway 225.

Alcaraz now faces charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and possession of child pornography.
