Sugar Land woman, 33, accused of sexually assaulting 14-year-old boy

SUGAR LAND, TX

Sugar Land police arrested Sarah Maria Torres, 33, on July 16 for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old boy.

Police say the teen told a friend about a sexual relationship with his ex-girlfriend's mother, and that friend told his mother. Sugar Land police were notified of the assault on June 3. The boy's mother provided evidence that she believed was connected with the assault.

Authorities say the assault is believed to have occurred at the boy's home on May 23 when he stayed home from school. However, they don't think it was an insolated incident.

"We believe that this relationship has been going on for at least a couple months," Sugar Land Police Department Spokesman Doug Adolph said.

Torres, who has two teenage daughters and a five-year-old boy, lives in a neighborhood near the child.

"This is sad. I will never imagine something like that will happen, especially a mom that had been so involved with her kids," neighbor Katia Farge said.

Farge lives two doors down and visits with Torres frequently. She is stunned.

"No warning signs. I never saw that coming, you know. She's married and like I said, a very nice lady," Farge said.

Torres is currently being held in the Fort Bend County jail on a $150,000 bond. The investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information is being asked to call the Sugar Land Police Department at 281-275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
