Investigators said there was a large group of people outside a home on Piney Point Drive Saturday night. They somehow got into a fight with two brothers in a pickup on the road.
The brothers live in the neighborhood but apparently didn't know the people at the house.
Police said people at the house fired shots at the pickup, which was hit several times. According to officials, the driver of the truck fired a weapon through the windshield and struck Matthew Hill, 23.
Hill is a Conroe resident who lives elsewhere in the city and was a guest at the house, investigators told us.
According to investigators, the pickup driver and his passenger fled the scene, but they were caught nearby.
Officers are still conducting interviews, so no charges have been filed. They said it could take a while to determine whether charges are warranted because the people involved are offering different accounts of what happened.
