Court documents filed Monday accuse Alvin Leon Roundtree of calling his nephew, Leonard Roundtree, and conspiring to hire someone to kill his wife. Alvin Roundtree was previously accused of shooting his wife at the San Antonio base. She was injured, but survived.
Authorities say that while in custody, Roundtree was caught on tape saying he would pay someone $10,000 to kill his wife, possibly to keep her from testifying against him. He allegedly hired an inmate in the same jail who was about to be released.
Roundtree now faces two new conspiracy charges.
His attorney, Judith Wemmert, did not return a message late Monday seeking comment.
