It happened on West Mount Houston near the North Freeway. Police say the man was sitting inside the parked vehicle by himself when someone drove up and shot him in the head through the passenger window.
"Basically we got a call around 1:20am this morning over at 720 West Mount Houston," said Sgt. Robert Blain with the Houston Police Department homicide division. "We have a 49-year-old Hispanic male who was shot while sitting in his pickup truck here."
Officers believe the shooter was behind the wheel of a blue Monte Carlo. There is no word yet on any motive.
The victim hasn't been identified. If you have any information, you're being asked to call police.
