Murder suspect surrenders after SWAT scene in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, TX

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office received two calls regarding a home in the 10 block of Dellforest Drive just minutes apart. One of the calls came from a nearby business after a woman walked in and claimed she'd just been assaulted and witnessed her boyfriend kill his mother.

Deputies at home then discovered the body of Anne Christine McGuirt in a downstairs bedroom. She had been killed by an apparent gunshot wound.

Deputies determined that the suspect was still inside the home, likely armed with a gun. That's when SWAT, crisis negotiators and major crime detectives were called to the scene.

Negotiations started and shortly after 5pm, the suspect came out of the house and peacefully surrendered.

The suspect has been identified as McGuirt's 37-year-old son, Stuart J. McGuirt. He's now charged with murder.

Meanwhile, the woman who identified herself as McGuirt's girlfriend was transported to a local hospital in good condition.

This isn't McGuirt's first run-in with the law. His criminal history includes assault of a family member, DWI, unlawful carrying of a weapon and drug charges.
