Telephone threat closes UT-Arlington campus

ARLINGTON, TX

UTA spokeswoman Kristin Sullivan says police are investigating the unconfirmed threat and there was no active incident on campus Wednesday.

Sullivan says a woman called UTA police to say a man with a gun was traveling to the school. Sullivan says no such person has been spotted on campus and police sought the man at another location.

A UTA emergency alert shortly after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday said the campus was closed. Classes and other events were canceled.

Sullivan says several thousand people typically would be on campus for summer classes, camps and other activities. UTA's spring enrollment was nearly 34,000 students.
