Charges have been filed against a man wanted for a deadly shooting outside a strip center last week, but officials said he remains at large.

Mauricio Ernesto Arevalo, 27, is charged with murder. Investigators say he shot and killed 23-year-old Kevin Moncada during an argument in broad daylight.

It happened in a parking lot on Richmond near Gessner. Police tell us Moncada was with several friends when Arevalo approached him, upset. One of Moncada's friends reportedly tried to calm down Arevalo, but he allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Moncada several times. Arevalo fled and Moncada died at the scene.

According to police, Arevalo and Moncada had gotten into a physical fight just days before the shooting and Arevalo had been making continuous threats since then.

Anyone with information on Arevalo's whereabouts is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
