It happened on Plainview at Bellfort just before 11pm.
Police say the man was in the driver's seat of the vehicle with a woman and another person.
Investigators say all three were arguing when the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim.
According to authorities, the woman was either trying to hit the suspect or drive away when she crashed the vehicle.
Police are still looking for the gunman.
