Activists upset cop wasn't indicted in amputee's death

HOUSTON

The Greater Coalition of Justice says they're upset with the decision. Last September, Brian Clauch was shot by police officers when they believed he had a weapon, which turned out to be a pen. A jury decided not to charge the officer involved in the shooting.

The group accuses the local government of a cover up to help officers get away with the shooting.

Civil rights lawyer Randall Kallinen said, "The mayor, the chief of police, and the culture of HPD is to hide the evidence and cover up all officer involved shootings."

The coalition says the grand jury system in Harris County needs to be reviewed and police shootings should be investigated independently.
