New video boards being installed at Reliant Stadium

HOUSTON

It'll be more than 14,000 square feet in full HD. A giant crane is still putting the last pieces of the first video board in place. There will be one board over each end zone.

The video boards are more than 500 percent bigger than the old standard definition boards used up until last season. The boards will be in the HD 1080i format with 4.4 trillion colors, and according to the Texans, will be the biggest video displays in professional sports.

The cost is roughly $16 million, split between the Texans and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. That will eventually be paid back to those organizations through county restoration funds, which are collected through visitor taxes.

According to the Texans, both video boards will be finished and fully functional in time for the team's first preseason game on August 17.
