A family is thankful to be alive after a crash in northwest Harris County.

It happened just after 2:30 this morning on Blue Bell Road near Veteran's Memorial.

A man driving an SUV collided with a car carrying the family. Officials said a mother and three children -- ages seven, 10 and 12 -- were able to get out of the car. However, the driver's side door was crushed. Firefighters had to remove the door to rescue the father.

The entire family was taken to the hospital, but authorities said they weren't seriously hurt.

So far, there is no word on what caused the accident.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, but it's not clear if he will face any charges.
