Prom party bus flop leaves Austin High School students fighting for refund

HOUSTON

What should have been the biggest night of their lives turned into one with bad memories after the transportation they thought they ordered didn't show up.

These seniors say their party bus they ordered was a flop.

"There weren't enough seats. It wasn't safe for any of us to be on that bus," Austin High School Senior Ben Castagno said.

The seating that was available...

"Like a concert chair you just put on the floor, you just fold it out and sit in it. There was a bunch on them thrown in the back of the bus," Austin High School senior Makenzie Johnson said.

Plus, there were issues with the air conditioning.

"I honestly felt sick when I got to the beach house because I was so hot," Austin High School senior Jessica Brandt said.

Julie Brandt says she booked the transportation for her daughter's prom from Houston Affordable Limo and was promised another party bus, including...

"It's wraparound leather seating, carpeted walls. Excellent stereo system, he said," she said.

So she paid the deposit. But on the day of the prom, something else showed up.

"Up drives an airport shuttle bus," Julie Brandt said.

She says she called the owner and was told...

"He said as far as the bus goes, oh well. And he wouldn't even talk to me," she said.

So Julie Brandt filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. And it wasn't the only one Houston Affordable Limo had against them.

"It was the same sort of situation where teenagers are going to their prom, and they didn't get the vehicle they requested," said Leah Napoliello with the Houston BBB.

Napoliello says the similar complaint also noted safety issues, including a wooden board to help keep the door closed.

When we reached out to Houston Affordable Limo Services, they said, "Ms. Brandt was told from the beginning that this was nothing fancy and not a limo bus, but a party bus. It states on our website that this is a less expensive option from the more luxurious options. We tried offering them four hours of free limo service, but they declined. We are still trying to resolve these issues."

The BBB tells us if you have a complaint, you can file one with the city of Houston.

As for Brandt and the students, they're still hoping for a full refund.
