Police are investigating after a holiday weekend disturbance turned deadly in Taylor Lake Village. A reported party crasher was found dying in the street after a confrontation with a homeowner.

At about 4:30am on Sunday, officers were called to a shooting at the intersection of Wyndwood and Shorewood Drive in the Timber Cove subdivision of Taylor Lake Village. When they arrived, officers found a man lying in the street, bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound. The man was transported to the Christus St. John Hospital emergency room, where he was pronounced dead. He has been identified as Brandon Smith, 36, of Taylor Lake Village.

Police say Smith had allegedly been trespassing at a nearby crawfish boil. The homeowner reportedly asked Smith to leave the property and when he didn't do so, the homeowner retrieved a handgun.

The homeowner called 911 while attempting to escort Smith off his property and upon reaching the street, the incident reportedly turned physical. At some point, the homeowner fired his handgun at least three times, striking Smith multiple times. The homeowner remained at the location until police arrived and surrendered to police.

The Lakeview Police Department is the police agency serving the cities of El Lago and Taylor Lake Village in the Clear Lake area of southeast Harris County. The Lakeview PD continues to investigate this incident.
