Two wounded after shootout in north Houston

HOUSTON

Police are still trying to sort out the details, but what we can gather from officers and family members, the shooting was the result of a robbery attempt.

Police were called to the home at the corner of Everett and McIntosh just before 2pm Monday. According to police, two men were shot, both in the arm. They were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A woman whose son stays at the home tells us it all started when a friend of one of the people who lives there came by the house Monday afternoon.

"He just sat down and started talking to them and pulled out a gun and demanded money," said Jeannette Gomez. "He shot my son's friend in the arm.

She says her son's friend had pulled his own weapon, and fired back at the suspect. She says both men should be OK.

Police remained on the scene processing evidence for hours. During the investigation, they say they found drug paraphernalia, which prompted them to get a search warrant, and take a third man into custody. No word yet on who may be facing charges.
