An entire floor of a downtown Houston building has been evacuated as a precaution after a suspicious envelope was found there.

Authorities say a suspicious envelope was discovered on the 8th floor of the Mickey Leland Federal building at 1919 Smith. The 8th floor has been evacuated.

We're told it's been determined to be a non-hazardous material, however it has the potential to cause some degree of irritation. The shelter in place has been lifted.

The Houston Fire Department says individuals in the 8th floor mail room were overcome with headaches after the suspicious package was recognized.

Approximately six people are being evaluated for headaches on scene, according to HFD.

Hazmat is on scene and investigating. The FBI says they are assisting in the investigation since the case involves a federal building.
