Ex-Eagle Pass worker gets prison for fraud

EAGLE PASS, TX

A federal judge on Wednesday sentenced Edgar Aguilar to 42 months in prison and ordered him to make restitution. Aguilar in November pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit credit card fraud.

Aguilar formerly worked for the Eagle Pass Department of Public Works.

Investigators say Aguilar in 2011 obtained five city-owned credit cards meant for fuel purchases. Investigators say Aguilar used the credit cards to fuel his personal vehicles and buy gas for others at city expense.

Four other people who pleaded guilty in the scheme await sentencing.
