Authorities want the public to know about what allegedly happened to a 67-year-old woman in her west Houston home.

Residents of the Wallingford Apartment Homes in west Houston are a little on edge after an elderly woman was sexually assaulted. Dave Green's mother is her best friend.

"Elderly lady was attacked, raped and beat up inside her apartment," Green said.

It happened about midnight Tuesday. A man knocked on her door, and when she opened it, he forced his way in and raped her.

"She had enough strength to call my mother. My mother called police and my mother -- she and her friend -- went to the hospital," Green said.

His mother, who wants to conceal her identity, says it was a violent attack.

"He slapped her around and threw her to the ground in the house," she said.

HPD is now investigating and confirms they responded to a sexual assault call of a 67-year-old woman at the apartment homes.

Details on the suspect, including his description, are few right now.

Now Green is worried for his mother's safety and other elderly women living in the complex.

"From my understanding the guy told her that he been watching her. That is my concern, because my mom stays here by herself and she's up in age too," Green said.

The victim is now out of the hospital and recovering. And as police investigate, they also want people at the Wallingford Apartments to be on alert.
