Man faces judge on arson charge for fire that injured two firefighters

HOUSTON

Raul Garcia, 35, is charged with felony arson. On May 8, Garcia allegedly caused a 2-alarm house fire at a historic home in the 2300 block of Wheeler near downtown Houston.

The blaze injured two firefighters and sent another person to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

The Houston Fire Department says Garcia admitted to investigators that he burned the home because he was angry at residents for telling him to leave.

The judge Tuesday morning found probable cause in the case. Garcia is being held on a $30,000 bond.

Court records show Garcia has a lengthy arrest record, including burglary, theft and criminal trespass.
