Woman convicted of killing husband in 1987, sentenced to 25 years in prison

HOUSTON On Friday, Norma Jean Clark, 64, was found guilty of murder and sentenced to 25 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Last year, Clark was named the sole suspect in the April 22, 1987 death of her husband, Edmund High Clark.

Early that morning, the Harris County Sheriff's Office was called to a shooting at a home in the 22900 block of Laurelwood Ln. in north Harris County.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim dead in the master bedroom. He was shot twice -- once in the head and once in the back, officials said.

His wife told investigators she was asleep in another room when the shooting happened. She said she was awakened by the gunshots and ran to a neighbor's house to call police.

The murder remained unsolved until 2010, when the HCSO cold case unit reinitiated an investigation into the case. New details and evidence emerged, leading them to charge Clark with the murder of her husband. She was extradited from Tennessee and booked into the Harris County Jail.
