We have an update on an Eyewitness News investigation getting results. The Texas State Senate Thursday passed a bill that would curtail the use of public money to pay for massive arena upgrades ahead of big sporting events like All-Star games.

In February, we broke the news that tax money from something called the Major Events Trust Fund was re-routed to buy a big screen display in Dallas. It was about to buy another for the Toyota Center.

State Senator Kirk Watson saw our story and put forth a bill to end the practice.

The bill now heads to the Texas House.
