A suspect is in custody after leading Pearland police on a chase Tuesday afternoon.

Pearland police say shortly before 1pm they received a burglary in progress call in the 7600 block of Quiet Trace after a neighbor reported seeing a male suspect force entry into a home then flee the scene in a red Chevrolet Impala.

A couple minutes later, the suspect was located by a detective in an unmarked vehicle traveling northbound on Cullen from Freedom, according to Pearland police, and the suspect's vehicle sped northbound on Cullen.

Police say the suspect reportedly struck another vehicle during the chase and eventually crashed at Schurmier and Cullen. The suspect then fled on foot, but a Pearland officer arrived and was able to take the suspect into custody.

Charges are pending against 25-year-old Jeremy D. McDaniel, of Houston, police say.
