Employee shot, killed inside southwest Harris County restaurant

HOUSTON

The shooting happened at the B&D Crawfish and Seafood restaurant in the 10000 block of Bellaire.

Authorities say Julio Xocol-Panquim was shot in the head and killed.

"We know that he was an employee of the business," Harris County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Robert Spurgeon said. "He was in the back, where they was doing the cooking. Someone heard a single gunshot and went back there to investigate and found the victim lying on the floor."

Customers were held for questioning, but none of them saw the shooting or knew how the gunman got away, Sgt. Spurgeon said.

Rosa Drones and her husband said their daughter was held at the restaurant for more than three hours.

"She's upset and wants to go home and check on her kids, but they want to know if she saw anything or who they saw," Drones said.

At one point, sheriff's deputies handcuffed a man, but he was released after it was determined he was only a witness. Several other people's hands were bagged for testing, but detectives did not take anyone in custody.

Detectives still have not determined a motive or identified any suspects.
