Head to Hermann Park today for a taste of Japan

HOUSTON

Well, save your cash. There's a festival kicking off today at Hermann Park that brings Japan to you for free. It all kicks off this morning at 10am and runs through 7pm tonight. Gates will also be open tomorrow from 10 until 5.

The Japan Festival along the reflection pool will have all the sights and sounds from Japan. There will be Japanese martial arts displays, lots of dancing and all the food you can bear to eat.

And its not just the traditional arts you'll find in history books.

"A lot of new modern things," said Donna Cole with the Japan America Society of Houston. "We're going to have an anime fashion show which will be fabulous."

Admission is free, but you'll want to bring a little cash if you want something to eat or get any souvenirs.

You can celebrate the Thai New Year today at a temple on Spindle in northwest Houston. The festival is free and will feature dancing and lots of Thai food. It starts at 5pm this afternoon and will go until 10pm tonight. If you have photos or videos of this event, email photos or videos to news@abc13.com or upload them on iwitness.abc13.com.
