Quick, 20, is accused of slashing 14 people Tuesday on the Lone Star College Cy-Fair campus. We've obtained court documents which now give us a disturbing insight into the mind of this alleged attacker. Quick apparently want to cut the faces off of his victims.
According to a search warrant affidavit filed by the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Quick told investigators shortly after his arrest that he had bizarre fantasies since age eight. Those fantasies are gruesome. He told one detective he "had been fantasizing about cutting off people's faces and wearing them as masks."
Quick's attorney either didn't know or wouldn't say anything about that Thursday morning when Quick waived his right to hear some of the evidence against him in court and chose not to appear. Attorney Jules Laird says he's not sure Quick understands the magnitude of the case against him.
"The family loves him dearly. They want all the people that have been injured and their families to know they're sending their heartfelt wishes to them and that they have a speedy recovery," Laird said.
Laird did not request bond for Quick. He says his client is partially deaf and relies on cochlear implants to hear. Laird also says Quick was primarily home schooled before attending classes at Lone Star College.
The court documents continue with Quick allegedly telling detectives he fantasized also about necrophilia and cannibalism. Investigators say he researched mass killings and serial killers on his home computer, which they have now seized from the house he was living in with his parents.
No one there answered the door Thursday. Detective say they also found a Hannibal Lecter mask and an animal dissection kit at the residence. They say Quick told them he sharpened a number of instruments to use as weapons in preparation for his attacks including a hair brush and pencils, though he admitted using an exacto knife and scalpel.
He successfully ambushed 14 people with a razor utility knife on the campus which only now is returning to some sense of normalcy.
Quick currently faces only three counts of aggravated assault. Prosecutors say he'll be punished for the other assaults if convicted. His next court date is set for May 10.
