Firefighters battle warehouse fire in east Houston

HOUSTON

According to Jay Evans with the Houston Fire Department, an open yard with a bunch of old wooden pallets caught on fire just after 12pm at the facility in the 1400 block of Kress near Old Clinton Road.

When firefighters arrived, the warehouse was engulfed in flames. Bundles of shredded paper and wood pallets were fueling the blaze.

Evans says there were no hazardous materials burning, and no injuries were reported.

A shelter-in-place order was issued, but it was lifted after about 20 minutes.

There is no word on the cause of the fire.

Fire trucks remained at the scene Sunday evening watching for hot spots.
