This happened around 4 this morning at the Phillips 66 location off Irvington and Weiss. The suspect broke in through a door on the side of the building, then it looks like he used a sledgehammer or some heavy tool to break a hole in the brick wall leading into the store.
The store's owner tells us he was alerted by his alarm company. When officers arrived, the suspect was long gone. The owner says the burglar tried to break into his lottery machine, but it doesn't look like he got away with any money.
Police don't think anything was actually stolen. The suspect did cause a lot damage though, and made a big mess inside the store. The owner tells us this isn't the first break-in at his store.
"Last year, it was almost five times. Same problem," said store owner Amir Dholasamiye. "Costs a lot of money and right now the insurance company doesn't cover it."
The owner tells us the damage is going to cost him between $1,500 and $2,000 to fix.
