Early morning fire burns at NE Harris Co. business

HOUSTON

The flames broke out at the Quality Control Trucking Company on Sheldon and Wood at around 4:18am. Crews had the fire knocked down within 30 minutes.

Crews from Sheldon, Channelview, Cloverleaf, Crosby and the Eastex Fire Departments all responded to the fire, which caused the most damage to forklifts in an area where repairs and maintenance are performed.

The fire was isolated to that mechanical shop.

"They think it might have been heavy equipment, some type of forklift that caused the fire," said Channelview Assistant Fire Chief Charles Villegas. "We don't know in what way. There may have been a gasoline trailer in there because it was a maintenance building."

The Harris County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating, but at this point it doesn't appear the fire was intentionally set. No one was injured.
