Houston-area counties beef up security in wake of Kaufman County killings

HOUSTON

The murders in Kaufman County have had a rippling effect. Security for prosecutors has become priority for law enforcement across the state.

Harris County District Attorney Mike Anderson now has around-the-clock security for him and his family.

Galveston County confirms they increased security two months ago after Kaufman County ADA Mark Hasse was killed in a parking lot a block from his courthouse office. Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochesset said his office is providing protection for DA Jack Roady and his family, and a deputy is available 24/7 for all prosecutors on the job.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office and DA's office are looking at ways to increase security for prosecutors and investigators at the courthouse as well.
