That call ended up with a very short chase in a neighborhood just south of the beltway. That led investigators to a home that had been burglarized just north of the beltway.
Burglary victim Jenson Babu is grateful that even though some of the computers and his precious sports memorabilia are damaged, they are at least back in his possession, just hours after burglars kicked in his back door, and rifled through his belongings.
He told Eyewitness News, "I got a call from one of our neighbors saying the sheriff's over here. The house was broken into, you need to get here ASAP."
It all began a few blocks south of the beltway, when an alert neighbor noticed two young men parked in a Mustang smoking, so she called the constables and within minutes they responded.
"They pulled up in front my house," witness Kevin Jones said. "One of the neighbors saw them. Once I turned around again, the constable pulled up with the lights on and they just took off."
Deputies were able to arrest one young man. The other got away in the Mustang, but not before tossing a bunch of stolen items out the window. Deputies were able to trace all the items back to Babu's home, and he's very grateful to get his belongings back
Investigators arrested one young man and they're looking for another. As for the homeowner, he says he's now considering putting in an alarm system.
