Court appearance for man charged in University of Houston student's murder

HOUSTON

Rodrick Mitchell, 36, is charged with capital murder in the death of 22-year-old Hao Huynh. Huynh was shot and killed during a robbery, shortly after he returned home to his apartment after a family party back in December of 2011. He was a senior at U of H at the time and looked forward to graduating.

DNA evidence in the case recently led to a hit in the state's DNA database and to Mitchell.

Eyewitnesses identified him as the person they saw leaving the apartment complex, shortly after Huynh was shot.

Mitchell was arrested Tuesday. He's being held without bond.
