Friendswood man accused of stealing library books, selling them to book store for gas money

FRIENDSWOOD, TX

Justin Daniel Sellars is charged with theft. Friendswood police say the Friendswood Public Library received a call on March 19 from the manager of a resale book store who said he was concerned when he saw five books sold to the store were marked with the Friendswood Public Library stamp.

According to Friendswood police, Sellars checked out the books from the library at around 10:15am and sold the books to the store a little more than an hour later.

While the officer was taking the theft report at the library, Friendswood police say Sellars returned. When the officer questioned him, they say Sellars admitted to selling the books for gas money.

Sellars, 19, was taken into custody.

The five books were valued at more than $200.
