Byron Gee, 26, is charged with kidnapping and robbery. Police accuse him of taking his 4-month-old Stephanie Phillips from her mother at her southwest Houston apartment complex Tuesday morning. An Amber Alert was issued shortly thereafter.
Officers also say Gee then carjacked a woman and drove her vehicle to Galveston with the baby.
Galveston police found the baby safe and alone at a motel room on the island that night and Gee hiding under a nearby house.
