Four charged in Family Dollar store robbery in which deputy fatally shot one suspect

HOUSTON

The thieves hit a Family Dollar store on Kuykendahl near Ella this weekend. Investigators have identified the five people accused of robbing that store and then leading sheriff's deputies on a chase, ending with one of the suspect's dead.

This all happened Saturday night when the five people allegedly robbed the Family Dollar, then took off in a stolen truck. Investigators say one of the five, Dashaude Carr, climbed a fence and refused to surrender. He then allegedly pointed a gun at deputies, and they fired back. Carr died at the scene.

While two adults and two juveniles were arrested, neighbors in the area told us what they heard.

"I was out with my kids after a night with the grandfather and saw a car coming at a high rate of speed up the street and make a turn, and police were on it, and helicopters were out here," said resident Hans Stockton.

Deputies arrested Damion McCowen and Tyler Johnson and have charged each of them with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The two juveniles, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, are facing the same charges.
