Houston police officers are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found Sunday at an apartment complex in southwest Houston.

The body was found Sunday afternoon in an apartment in the 3700 block of Hillcroft at Windswept. Her identity hasn't been released, and her cause of death is unknown.

Police are waiting for information from the medical examiner's office. An autopsy will be conducted.

Authorities initially received a 911 call from a neighbor around 11:30am Sunday. When officers arrived, they found the 35-year-old woman unresponsive.

Police say there were no obvious signs of a struggle, but they did see things at the scene which make the death seem suspicious.

"There's a couple things we want to check into before we determine whether this is a natural death or possibly homicide," said Sgt. Ben Williams with HPD Homicide.

Family, friends and neighbors of the woman found dead are all hoping for answers soon.

We spoke to the woman's brother-in-law, who told us she moved to Houston to have a better life and provide for their family. They never expected her to die here, he said.

The woman had two roommates. We're told they are cooperating in the investigation.
