Cardinal apologizes for sexual misbehavior

LONDON

Cardinal Keith O'Brien had been Britain's highest-ranking Catholic leader until he resigned Monday from his position as archbishop of St. Andrews and Edinburgh.

He's promising to stay out of the church's public life. O'Brien's statement comes as cardinals from around the world gather in Rome to select a new pope.
