HOUSTON

It happened on Beechnut at Braeburn Valley, just east of the Southwest Freeway, before 7am. From SkyEye 13 HD aerials, a car could be seen smashed into the side of the bus.

According to Houston police, the HISD school bus had turned eastbound onto Beechnut when a black Honda Accord, reportedly going over the speed limit, t-boned the left side of the bus.

Three high school-aged students were on the bus with the bus driver, on their way to Scarborough High School. One female student was taken to Memorial Hermann Southwest via ambulance, where doctors are evaluating her injuries, which are not considered life threatening, according to a statement from HISD. The other two students were evaluated by paramedics at the scene and released.

Upon arrival at Scarborough, one male student complained of leg pain, and is being evaluated. As is standard procedure following major accidents, the bus driver will be temporarily removed from his driving duties.

The driver of the Accord was taken to a hospital in extremely critical condition. The Houston Police Department is handling the investigation of this accident.
