Woman on Triumph removed from ship after suffering stroke, says Coast Guard

MOBILE, AL

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, a 45-foot response boat took the passenger to Dauphin Island for emergency medical services.

At this point, we don't know the woman's condition.

The Carnival Triumph, which left Galveston last Thursday, became disabled when a fire in the engine room Sunday left the massive vessel stranded. It's currently being towed to port in Mobile.

More than 4,000 people are on board the Triumph, and passengers face long bus rides or other travel hassles to get home once they arrive in Alabama.

Stay with Eyewitness News for the very latest on efforts to get the ship back to port and the passengers off.
